Registration closes one week prior

Location - Moab, Utah

Difficulty - Easy but exciting!

Experience - Amateur to intermediate

Group size - 6 participants

Terrain - Paved and well-maintained gravel paths

Day 1 - Friday

We will meet at the Arches NP visitor center in the evening to arrange transportation (carpooling with one another is encouraged) through the park.  After a brief orientation about the desert ecosystem and proper etiquette, we will choose one of several classic locations (condition dependent) to set up and best capture sunset as the red rocks begin to glow. Choices range from a moderate 3-mile hike to the iconic Delicate Arch, or a leisurely walk to explore compositions around areas you can easily drive to.

After the last light leaves, we prepare for the celestial show. We will watch the Milky Way appear and photograph its splendor above and through the sandstone formations.

I will provide assistance, instruction, and settings throughout the night.

Day 2 - Saturday

As the galactic core dips below the horizon, we will reflect and discuss our remaining time together before heading back into Moab to rest. The day is yours to enjoy the town of Moab and prepare yourself and your equipment for another night under the heavens.

That evening we will once again meet in the Arches parking lot and caravan to our location for sunset. Depending on the conditions, we will experiment with star trails and low-level lighting (LLL), as 2019 is the final year LLL will be allowed in Arches.

Day 3 - Sunday

With our minds and memory cards full, we will meet up and discuss the experience over breakfast in town. I will be available to address any questions you may have as well as provide advice and instruction for post-processing your images. We will then say our goodbyes and part ways.
