Day 1

Embark on a scenic float from the historic Dewey Bridge through majestic canyons before arriving at camp in the afternoon. Enjoy a hearty dinner and rest before setting off for our first photography excursion.

A short drive takes us to one of the most iconic views in the area to enjoy and capture sunset.  After the last light leaves the canyon walls, we will return to camp.

Day 2

As sunrise ignites the valley, there is another opportunity to photograph the river and beautiful vistas.  You’ll find a filling breakfast awaits you before a day of exciting Class II and III white water along this famous stretch of the resplendent Colorado River.  The rapids are punctuated by slower sections that provide respite from the heat.  There will be time to swim and savor the cool water surrounded by gorgeous views.

A stop for lunch gives you plenty of time to re-fuel while enjoying the sights and sounds of the canyon on a riverside beach.  Once back in the raft, it’s only a few miles before arriving at the take out where we say goodbye to the river.

Take the afternoon to explore the town of Moab and get dinner.  We will reconvene at Arches NP visitor center and arrange transportation (carpooling with one another is encouraged).  We will choose one of several classic locations (condition dependent) to set up and best capture sunset.

The last stop of the night will be to an ideal location to watch the Milky Way rise and photograph its splendor above the sandstone formations.  I will provide settings and instruction throughout the night.

Day 3

As the galactic core dips below the horizon, we will move to our final location and prepare for sunrise. Once the golden light leaves and our memory cards are full, we will head back into Moab for breakfast. We can reflect and discuss our time together, and I will be available to provide advice and instruction for post processing your images.
